Sydney Airport and World Youth Day

Sydney Airport will be operating very much as usual during World Youth Day and passengers will notice very little, if any, difference from normal operations.

World Youth Day will have no impact on commercial flight services nor reduce scheduled air services.

Sydney Airport is not a 24 hour airport.  A noise curfew is in place and passenger aircraft do not arrive or take-off after 11.00pm.  All aircraft carrying World Youth Day pilgrims will comply with the existing curfew arrangements at Sydney Airport.

Inbound and outbound passengers will be processed as normal, with no reduction in services by border agencies as a result of World Youth Day.

Getting To and From Sydney Airport

All taxi, bus, train and hire car services at Sydney Airport will operate as normal.   For more information about transport arrangements in Sydney during World Youth Day go to: www.wydca.nsw.gov.au

Roads leading to Sydney Airport may at times be congested so it may take longer for taxis and cars to reach the airport.  If you are travelling to or from Sydney Airport, please allow yourself extra time.

If you are collecting pilgrims in a car normal public car parking close to each terminal will be available.

If you are using a bus to pick-up pilgrims, look for the World Youth Day 2008 Bus and Coach directional signs to special parking areas near the entry to both International and Domestic precincts.

If you are dropping off pilgrims, normal set down arrangements on the departures level will apply.  Vehicles must not be left unattended.

Additional Kerbside Management Officers will be on duty.  Drivers are asked to be patient and cooperate with directions from Kerbside Management Officers.
